DJI Avata 360 Sets New Standards for Immersive 360 FPV Flying

DJI has officially launched the DJI Avata 360, a new flagship drone that combines 360-degree imaging with the immersive experience of first-person-view flying. Announced on March 26, 2026, the drone is designed to give creators the ability to capture a full 360-degree view in a single flight and then reframe that footage from any angle during post-production. DJI describes the Avata 360 as a drone built to unlock endless creativity in one take, pairing the thrill of FPV flight with serious imaging capabilities.

At the heart of the DJI Avata 360 is a 360-degree lens using 1-inch-equivalent sensors capable of recording 8K/60fps HDR video and capturing 120 megapixel photos. The large 2.4 micrometer pixels are designed to handle light and shadow with greater detail, making the drone well-suited for challenging lighting conditions. Creators who prefer a more traditional shooting style can switch to Single Lens mode, which delivers 4K/60fps footage in the style of the original Avata lineup.

DJI Avata 360 Drone Brings O4+ Transmission and Obstacle Sensing

The DJI Avata 360 runs on DJI’s O4+ video transmission system, which supports high-definition live feeds at 1080p/60fps and a maximum transmission range of up to 20 kilometers. The system is designed with strong anti-interference capabilities to keep footage flowing smoothly during flight. For pilots new to FPV flying, the drone also includes nightscape omnidirectional obstacle sensing and integrated propeller guards, making it more approachable without removing the performance features that experienced pilots expect. Flight time is rated at up to 23 minutes per charge.

The DJI Avata 360 can be flown with several controller options. Using DJI remote controllers such as the RC 2, RC-N2, or RC-N3 allows for precise camera control during flight. Pilots looking for a more immersive experience can pair the drone with DJI goggles and motion controllers to fly at 1080p/60fps in full 360-degree view. Like its predecessor, the Avata 2, the drone supports aerial acrobatics including drifting, and DJI says this can be performed even by beginners using the DJI RC Motion 3. For those interested in how earlier models shaped this category, DJI’s Avata played a significant role in establishing what cine-whoop style drones could accomplish.

Post-Production Tools and Pricing for the DJI Avata 360

One of the more distinctive features of the DJI Avata 360 is the suite of software tools available through the DJI Fly and DJI Studio apps. Spotlight Free locks onto a moving subject and assists with camera movement to replicate complex shots. ActiveTrack 360 automatically selects the best tracking mode depending on the environment, with Standard mode maintaining steady distance and altitude and Cycling mode reacting faster in complex settings. An FPV mode adds a natural roll effect to tracked and manual flights and can also be applied during post-production editing.

The drone also includes a Virtual Gimbal feature that uses the full 360-degree view to allow infinite rotation and tilt, making it possible to rotate horizons or shift perspectives without any physical gimbal movement. Creators can take advantage of 42GB of internal storage, which holds approximately 30 minutes of 8K 360-degree footage without a microSD card. For fast offloading, Wi-Fi 6 High-Speed Transfer can move 1GB of footage to the DJI Fly app in about 10 seconds at speeds of up to 100 MB/s. The front element of the camera lens features a replaceable design, so minor damage does not necessarily require sending the unit in for repair.

The DJI Avata 360 is available for pre-order starting March 26, 2026, with shipping beginning in April 2026 on a schedule that will vary by region. The drone-only configuration retails for 409 British pounds, while a bundle with the DJI RC 2 controller is priced at 639 British pounds. Two Fly More Combo configurations are each priced at 829 British pounds, one pairing with the RC 2 and one with motion controllers. DJI Care Refresh protection plans are also available for the Avata 360, with one-year plans covering up to two replacements and two-year plans covering up to four, including accidental damage from flyaways, collisions, and water damage.
