VisionWave drones are making their first moves into Latin America, as the company announced it recently conducted technology briefings and product presentations with government representatives in the region. The discussions centered on potential homeland security and public safety applications for advanced unmanned aerial systems, covering scenarios that include border monitoring, disaster response, emergency management, aerial surveillance, and public safety operations. The engagements were described by the company as informational and exploratory, and do not represent any procurement decisions or formal commitments from any government authority.

VisionWave Holdings (NASDAQ: VWAV) is a dual-market autonomous systems company focused on AI-driven, RF-based sensing, autonomy, and computational acceleration technologies for defense and commercial infrastructure applications. During the Latin America presentations, the company showcased technologies developed across its ecosystem, including specialized aerial payload systems built by its wholly owned subsidiary SolarDrone Ltd., as well as compact ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) platforms developed by other VisionWave portfolio companies. The company has stated it believes several regions in Latin America represent emerging markets for advanced aerial technologies supporting public safety, environmental monitoring, infrastructure protection, and emergency response.

SolarDrone Expands With Junko Solar Acquisition

At the same time as the Latin America outreach, VisionWave Holdings announced that SolarDrone Ltd. has entered into an agreement to acquire a 51% controlling interest in Junko Solar Ltd., an Israeli company that specializes in solar panel maintenance and cleaning services. The transaction is valued at $204,000, based on an agreed company valuation of $400,000, and is structured across three staged payments. As part of the deal, Junko Solar founder Amos Cohen has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and Director of SolarDrone Ltd. Cohen will oversee SolarDrone’s operational growth and the integration of Junko Solar’s business activity while supporting the continued expansion of SolarDrone’s technology platform. Junko Solar operates in the solar infrastructure services sector, providing specialized cleaning and maintenance solutions designed to improve solar panel efficiency and operational performance.

The acquisition is a notable step for SolarDrone, which has been building its presence as both a UAV technology developer and a commercial infrastructure services provider. By bringing in a company with direct experience in solar maintenance, SolarDrone is broadening its operational profile beyond aerial platforms into physical infrastructure upkeep. This dual-focus approach mirrors VisionWave’s broader company strategy, which aims to link defense innovation with civilian infrastructure applications through a shared core technology ecosystem.

VisionWave Drones Target a Growing Global Defense Market

The autonomous aerial systems market is expanding quickly, with governments across Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia actively evaluating drone technologies for a wide range of critical missions. VisionWave’s strategy is to integrate aerial platforms, specialized payload technologies, and infrastructure intelligence capabilities into a unified system that serves both government and commercial clients. The company’s autonomous systems portfolio spans aerial surveillance and early-warning platforms, counter-UAS systems, and swarm-enabled drone platforms built for coordinated operations.

VisionWave’s outreach in Latin America reflects a broader pattern in the defense tech world, where smaller, nimble companies with specialized autonomous systems are increasingly getting in front of government procurement officials in regions that were previously underserved by major defense contractors. The company holds over 50 granted patents and has been developing its technology across several domains including AI infrastructure, RF sensing, and unmanned ground vehicles. Whether the Latin America briefings lead to formal contracts remains to be seen, but the combination of active government outreach and a new commercial acquisition through SolarDrone signals that VisionWave is pushing hard on multiple fronts to grow its footprint in the autonomous systems space.
