Green UAS certification is now a formal target for ZenaTech as its ZenaDrone subsidiary announced it has initiated the certification application process for the ZenaDrone 1000, also referred to as ZD1000. The company described the ZenaDrone 1000 as its flagship heavy lift multifunction AI drone platform, and it said the certification pathway is intended to strengthen the platform’s prospects for U.S. defense and government procurement once certification is successfully completed.
In the announcement, ZenaTech positioned the move as part of its effort to expand U.S. defense and government engagement and to align with procurement expectations for secure, NDAA aligned drone systems. The company framed the Green UAS pathway as a key step toward approved procurement routes for U.S. defense and government buyers and as a way to reinforce priorities such as cybersecurity, supply chain integrity, and American aligned innovation.
Green UAS Certification Targets Secure Federal Drone Procurement
ZenaTech said Green UAS certification is a compliance and cybersecurity framework developed by AUVSI in collaboration with the U.S. Department of War. The company stated the framework is designed to ensure drones are free of components from foreign adversaries and meet standards for cybersecurity, data protection, and supply chain integrity. The release also said the Green UAS certification process is expected to be streamlined for faster approvals under recent executive orders, and it described this as improving alignment with Blue UAS certification, which it called a required next step and a precursor requirement in the process.
The announcement also described Blue UAS as building on Green UAS by providing higher assurance for mission critical defense operations. In the company’s description, Blue UAS enables streamlined Department of War procurement, faster contract approvals, and deployment in sensitive or classified operational environments. ZenaTech presented the Green UAS step as foundational to entering those more stringent procurement pathways.
“Initiating the Green UAS certification process for the ZenaDrone 1000 is a crucial step in expanding our U.S. defense and government engagement. Secure, NDAA-aligned drone systems are increasingly becoming a baseline requirement for federal procurement. By advancing ZD1000 through the Green UAS pathway, our heavy-lift platform is on the path to deliver critical ISR and cargo capabilities for defense missions. Our initiation of this application process also reinforces our commitment to cybersecurity, supply chain integrity, and American-aligned innovation.” Shaun Passley, Ph.D., CEO of ZenaTech
The company described the ZenaDrone 1000 as engineered as an advanced AI powered VTOL heavy lift platform optimized for defense use. It said the platform is intended to support ISR capabilities, including real time surveillance, tactical reconnaissance, and secure data collection, alongside cargo transport and mission critical payload delivery. ZenaTech also stated the system has a modular design intended to allow rapid configuration for multi mission operations in high risk environments, ranging from infrastructure monitoring to operational logistics support.
Midway through the announcement, the company emphasized that the certification effort is tied to procurement readiness for defense and government use cases. ZenaTech positioned the Green UAS pathway as a way to strengthen alignment with federal procurement requirements that prioritize cybersecurity controls and verified supply chain integrity for uncrewed aircraft systems.
Green UAS Certification Supports Mission Autonomy and Cargo Use Cases
The announcement framed the ZenaDrone 1000 as a platform intended for defense missions where both intelligence collection and logistics capabilities matter. By highlighting ISR and cargo transport together, ZenaTech described the drone as a multi role system rather than a single purpose aircraft. The company’s description focused on operational needs such as secure data collection and payload delivery, and it said the platform is optimized for defense use and mission critical deployment scenarios.
ZenaTech also described itself as a technology company specializing in AI drone solutions, Drone as a Service, enterprise SaaS, and quantum computing solutions for mission critical applications for business, government, and defense. In that context, the announcement presented the Green UAS certification application as a practical milestone intended to advance procurement prospects for its flagship heavy lift drone platform.
The company described the Green UAS step as a move toward approved procurement pathways if certification is successfully achieved. In the framing of the announcement, initiating the application process is meant to put the ZenaDrone 1000 on a more direct route toward federal buyers who require cybersecurity, data protection, and supply chain integrity standards as a baseline for acquiring drones and deploying them in defense and government missions.
