D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir C-UAS system helps secure the 55th Annual JUNO Awards with RF-Cyber counter-drone technology. The non-disruptive anti-drone capabilities of EnforceAir2, D-Fend Solutions’ field-proven, cyber-driven C-UAS system, provided airspace safety and operational continuity for the 19,000+ attendee event

D-Fend Solutions announced that its EnforceAir counter drone system was deployed to support airspace security during the 55th Annual JUNO Awards in Hamilton, Ontario. The event, held on March 29, 2026 at TD Coliseum, drew approximately 19,000 attendees inside the venue along with several thousand more in surrounding areas. The system used radio frequency cyber technology to detect, locate, and identify unauthorized drones while allowing authorized communications and drone operations to continue without disruption.

The deployment came in response to the complex security demands of a major public event attended by VIPs, government officials, and large crowds. Maintaining safe and controlled airspace was a critical part of the overall safety strategy. D-Fend Solutions’ EnforceAir system uses a non-kinetic, non-jamming approach, meaning it avoids the kind of signal interference that can knock out communication networks relied upon by media crews, officials, and emergency services. This RF cyber method is becoming a standard counter drone solution for mass gatherings precisely because it does not cause collateral disruption.

Counter Drone System Integrated Into Police Operations

As part of a joint RPAS unit, the EnforceAir2 system was integrated directly into the Hamilton Police Emergency Operations Centre. It provided a common operational picture with real time airspace awareness, giving officers the ability to monitor the skies and distinguish between authorized and unauthorized drones automatically. The system supported Hamilton Police drone operations by detecting and identifying any possible unauthorized or potentially malicious aircraft, while also enabling coordinated response efforts across agencies. This kind of integration allows law enforcement to act on EnforceAir2 capabilities without pulling resources from other security functions at the event.

“Large-scale public events like the JUNO Awards pose uniquely complex security challenges, where maintaining safe and controlled airspace is just as critical as securing the ground. This EnforceAir deployment demonstrates how new generation advanced RF-Cyber technology can seamlessly integrate into existing operations, providing real-time awareness and actionable intelligence without interfering with communications and operations, including authorized drones in the airspace.” Zohar Halachmi, Chairman and CEO of D-Fend Solutions

The non-disruptive nature of the technology was especially important at the JUNO Awards, where broadcast crews, production teams, and public safety officials all relied on functioning communication systems throughout the ceremony. Traditional counter drone methods that rely on jamming can interfere with these systems, potentially creating more problems than they solve. The RF cyber approach instead takes control of rogue drones through targeted signal manipulation, allowing for safe landings and controlled outcomes without broader signal interference.

Growing Demand for Drone Security at Public Events

Police services across Ontario are currently evaluating advanced counter drone technology for use at large scale public events, including concerts, sporting events, and other mass gatherings. The JUNO Awards deployment is one example of a broader trend among public safety agencies seeking non-disruptive tools that can address evolving aerial threats while preserving operational continuity. As consumer drones become more accessible and capable, the risk of unauthorized flights over crowded venues has grown significantly, making airspace security a higher priority for event planners and law enforcement alike.

D-Fend Solutions describes itself as the leading provider of field proven RF cyber driven counter drone takeover technology. The company says its EnforceAir system has been used in thousands of successful deployments worldwide across military, public safety, airport, prison, critical infrastructure, and major event environments. The system is designed to work as a standalone solution or as part of a multilayered security setup, giving agencies flexibility in how they integrate it into their existing operations. The JUNO Awards deployment was conducted in coordination with the Hamilton Police Service, though D-Fend Solutions noted it is not officially affiliated with the awards ceremony or its organizers.
