DZYNE Technologies has officially unveiled Blitz, a new expendable Group 1 unmanned aerial system that the California based defense firm says is built for affordable mass, rapid adaptability, and autonomous operations at scale. The announcement positions the DZYNE Blitz UAV as a direct response to lessons drawn from contemporary conflicts and to Department of Defense priorities around attritable, open, and interoperable platforms.

Engineered for multi mission flexibility and high volume swarm deployment, the platform will get its first major public showing at SOF Week 2026 at booth #2221. DZYNE pitches Blitz as a small, smart, and cost disruptive answer to the urgent need for unmanned systems that can be fielded in numbers, a demand the company ties to lessons from current battlefield experience. Visitors to the booth will be able to inspect the aircraft, its modular payload architecture, and the multiple deployment configurations the company is offering.

DZYNE Blitz UAV Designed for Affordable Mass

Blitz is built around a foldable, packable airframe that fits inside an 80 liter rucksack and can be assembled and made mission ready in under two minutes. Despite the small footprint, the platform is meant to scale up for distributed and attritable force employment when operators need to put many aircraft in the air at once. Open interfaces and Payload Development Kits aligned with Modular Open Systems Architecture principles allow DZYNE payloads, third party modules, and customer developed systems to plug into the airframe with minimal friction.

The performance numbers DZYNE publishes for the DZYNE Blitz UAV are notable for the expendable Group 1 class. The aircraft offers an approximate range of 80 to 150 kilometers without forward staging, endurance of one to two hours with long endurance battery options, and a cruise envelope of 40 to 75 knots equivalent airspeed. Payload capacity reaches up to 5 pounds for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, deception, and other mission effects. Quiet electric propulsion gives the aircraft a low acoustic and thermal signature, which supports low visibility operations in contested airspace.

“Blitz represents a fundamental shift in how warfighters can project mass, adaptability, and speed. By pairing true affordability with a deeply modular architecture, Blitz gives operators the freedom to scale missions on demand, from single asset reconnaissance to synchronized multi aircraft effects. It’s designed to be trained quickly, deployed anywhere, and integrated with existing digital ecosystems without friction.” Connor Toler, Blitz Product Manager at DZYNE

Modular Components and Mission Flexibility

The modular approach extends well beyond the payload bay. Operators can swap interchangeable nose sections, payload bays, wingtips, GNSS and visual navigation modules, telemetry tails, and multiple battery configurations to reshape the aircraft for the task at hand, with rapid reconfiguration possible in the field using minimal tools. That flexibility lets a single airframe shift between sensing, electronic warfare support, deception, and other effects without forcing operators to juggle several aircraft families. The platform sits within DZYNE’s wider airborne systems portfolio, which also includes long endurance designs aimed at the higher Group classes.

Native ATAK and MAVLink integration is another piece of the friction reduction story. By speaking the protocols that command and control teams already use, Blitz can be folded into existing digital ecosystems without specialized middleware or custom integration projects. That kind of plug and play behavior is consistent with DZYNE’s earlier work on the ULTRA drone, a long endurance ISR platform developed with the Air Force Research Laboratory. With Blitz, the company is bringing a similar approach to a much smaller and far more numerous class of aircraft.

Launch Versatility and Rapid Operator Training

DZYNE has built Blitz to support several different launch concepts so that users can scale operations from a single soldier to a large coordinated effort. Hand launch is offered for rapid, low footprint missions where a small team needs to put one aircraft in the air quickly. A 4 pack rail launcher supports multi sortie operations from vehicles or fixed positions. The BlitzBox, an ISO container launcher designed by DZYNE, is described as capable of deploying dozens of aircraft for synchronized mass effects, which is the kind of capability that planners increasingly associate with high intensity operations.

Training requirements have also been kept deliberately low. DZYNE says the intuitive design and ATAK compatibility allow new operators to be trained on the system in under two hours, a figure aimed at speeding integration into small units and distributed formations. Blitz is available now for demonstrations and procurement to eligible U.S. and allied customers, and the DZYNE Blitz UAV will remain on display at SOF Week 2026 at booth #2221 during the event.
