LiveU and DRONERESPONDERS Announce Strategic Partnership to Advance Real-Time Video Intelligence

LiveU has announced a new strategic partnership with DRONERESPONDERS, a development the two organizations say will expand the reach of real-time aerial video for first responders working across the United States. The LiveU drone partnership focuses on combining the company’s live IP video transmission technology with the public safety drone work that DRONERESPONDERS leads as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit program. The stated goal is to give command centers a clearer common operating picture during emergencies and to support the agencies that rely on unmanned aircraft, counter drone systems, and related tools to manage critical incidents on the ground.

The agreement is centered on the use of drones in law enforcement, homeland security, emergency management, and disaster recovery operations. LiveU’s technology is already used by multiple public safety agencies to move live drone video into the cloud, where it can be viewed by commanders at fixed operations centers or by personnel working in the field. The two organizations say the new collaboration will help agencies integrate that capability into their drone programs in a more consistent and coordinated way as the Drones For Good movement continues to expand globally and as more departments stand up dedicated unmanned aircraft units.

Stable Live Video From Drones in Difficult Environments

According to the announcement, the technology at the center of the agreement is LiveU’s LRT, or LiveU Reliable Transport protocol. The protocol allows public safety agencies to stream encrypted high definition drone footage over a mix of cellular, WiFi, and satellite networks at the same time. By aggregating those connections into a single resilient feed, the system is designed to maintain a stable connection even in bandwidth congested disaster zones, where a single carrier or single network link would often fail. That kind of reliability matters for crews running first responder drone programs in active scenes where decisions need to be made in seconds rather than minutes.

“Our mission has always been to support first responders with the most reliable tool sets, in order to get the best common operating picture on the ground or in the air, in real time. Partnering with DRONERESPONDERS allows us to directly support the dedicated individuals using UAS technology to save lives and protect communities in a more coordinated way.” Jared Brody, Public Safety Business Development at LiveU

Key Pillars of the LiveU Drone Partnership

The partnership includes joint educational programming, with LiveU set to take part in DRONERESPONDERS webinars and in the UNITE program, which stands for UAS National Initiative for Training and Education. Through those efforts, LiveU plans to share technical guidance on live streaming best practices for public safety drone operators across the country. The two groups also outlined a series of operational integration events, where LiveU portable encoders such as the LU-REQON1 and the LU900Q will be demonstrated alongside leading public safety drone platforms at upcoming gatherings including OHCON, NCCOM, CALCON, and TEXCON.

Beyond training and demonstrations, LiveU has committed to backing the DRONERESPONDERS nonprofit mission of advancing the use of UAS and related technologies for officer safety and community resilience. The company offers a dedicated public safety solution that includes its bonded IP encoders and supporting software for live drone streaming. The collaboration is positioned by both sides as a way to push the field forward through shared expertise and educational outreach rather than through a single product rollout, with the LiveU drone partnership serving as a long term sponsorship of the DRONERESPONDERS Public Safety UAS Alliance.

Why Real-Time Video Intelligence Matters for Incident Command

DRONERESPONDERS framed the agreement in terms of what reliable video actually means for the people running an incident on the ground.

“Real-time video intelligence has become a cornerstone of modern incident command. The ability to securely deliver reliable, low–latency video from unmanned aircraft to command staff in the field and at operations centers is essential for maintaining situational awareness, improving coordination, and supporting informed decision–making during critical incidents. A resilient video transport layer ensures that actionable intelligence reaches the right people at the right moment, even in complex or high–risk environments.” Jason Day, Deputy Director for DRONERESPONDERS

LiveU describes itself as a leading developer of live video broadcasting and streaming solutions that integrate with unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, including drones and UGVs. The company says it has more than 5,000 customers across 150 countries and serves broadcasters, government departments, public safety agencies, and other organizations. DRONERESPONDERS, for its part, is positioned as the leading nonprofit program advancing public safety UAS, counter UAS, and Advanced Air Mobility, and operates as an official program of AIRT. The partners say their joint efforts will be visible across webinars, training initiatives, and field demonstrations at major public safety drone events in the months ahead.
