Pyrotechnic drone technology reached a new milestone when Pyrotecnico said it helped set the Guinness World Record for the Largest Daytime Fireworks Display using a fleet of 1,020 pyro drones. The company said the record was officially set on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the International Fireworks Championship, marking what it described as the premiere launch of its integrated approach combining drones and airborne pyrotechnic smoke effects.

According to the announcement, Pyrotecnico’s drones carried integrated smoke pyrotechnics designed for daytime visibility, with two smoke effects per drone for a total of 2,024 integrated effects. The company said it executed the pyrotechnic drone program in-house, including drone pilots and flight operations, flight programming, aerial choreography, and collaborative design engineering alongside Ricasa, which was also named as a sponsor of the record-setting achievement.

Pyrotechnic Drone Technology Debuts in Large-Scale Daytime Fireworks

Pyrotecnico said the defining feature of the record-setting event was the use of pyrotechnic drone technology executed entirely in-house, and it described this as a milestone launch for the company. The announcement lists the drone light show scope as including 1,020 pyrotechnic drones, 2,024 integrated smoke pyrotechnic effects, all drone pilots and flight operations, complete programming and choreography, and collaborative design engineering with Ricasa. The company also stated that the drone platform technology was powered by Firefly Drone Systems.

The announcement describes how product design and visibility were central to the daytime approach. Ricasa was credited with designing the pyrotechnic product to integrate with specialty smoke systems developed for Pyrotecnico’s drone fleet, and the release states the goal was maximum daytime visibility. That focus on visibility shaped the opening formations, which Pyrotecnico said were designed to read clearly at scale against a bright sky.

Pyrotecnico said the sequence opened with a United States flag using red, white, and blue atmospheric smoke and scaled approximately 600 feet wide by 400 feet tall. The company said the flag was followed by a bat formation symbolizing Valencia, Spain, described as the birthplace of the mascletà, which the release defines as a daytime pyrotechnic display. By combining drone choreography with visible daytime smoke effects, the company framed the show as an evolution of daytime entertainment rather than a traditional night-only drone light show format.

Pyrotecnico emphasized that the event involved more than 1,000 drones and thousands of detonations, and it stated that the combination set a new standard for daytime pyrotechnics while redefining what is possible in daytime live entertainment. The focus on daytime performance is notable because many high-profile drone productions are optimized for night viewing, where LED visibility is the primary visual tool.

By using airborne smoke effects integrated into drones, the company described an approach that can deliver large-scale visuals when sunlight would normally limit the impact of traditional drone light show designs. The release also makes clear that the production depended on multiple coordinated capabilities, including product integration, flight programming, choreography, and real-time operations performed by trained drone teams.

Pyrotecnico also included company background to frame the milestone. It described five generations of experience and more than 135 years of creating live entertainment experiences for audiences of different sizes, and it said it is headquartered outside of Pittsburgh in New Castle, Pennsylvania, with additional locations across the United States. The company characterized the record-setting program as aligned with a broader focus on collaboration and safety while delivering large-scale event productions.
